About

Welcome to Muddy Math . We’re dedicated to being your tour guide to explore our world, beneath, beyond, and unknown. We focus on supporting classroom students, young humans, and their immediate family members and friends interested in their success. This means that this website is a collection of possibly helpful resources, activities, journal entries, and memoirs. I am on a quest to organize these tools, stories, resources, and ah-ha moments in a way that is accessible to most. However, I am a flawed human and love recognizing mishaps, or muddiness, and trying to clear it up. Please reach out if you have suggestions, ideas, questions, or curiosities!

When we started in 2019, I catapaulted this project from the energy generated in birthing a child into this world. Since, then this Muddy Math journey has been exactly that… full of ups and downs, constant changes, no changes, exponential changes, and likely behaviors that I am not humanly capable of observing or measuring.

The over-arching passion that keeps this engine reving, is my unrelenting concern and interest in middle school mathematics with a focus on accessiblility of tools, experts, and environments for students to construct the most optimal knowledge base of mathematics during middle school years. Initially, I thought I could learn more about access for students in unique communities by being a teacher, coach, student, teacher, and professional. Along the way, I knew that I had to do more. At the same time, administration was never an interest of mine. I want to be on the ground with students, in particular.

Now, I am moving my own education pathway forward as I work to earn my Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth through the STEM Education Ph.D. program. I am remaining a full-time teacher and working part-time on becoming a researcher. I offer tutoring services, but this is limited because services are extremely client-centered and require equal time planning as tutoring.
